Please stop asking me if I’m scared.

I hear these questions/comments WAY too many times about my trip:

“So, are you scared?”

“Bet you’re nervous.”

“Are you sad to leave home?”

If you have asked me these questions, no worries! I know you say these things because you care. I’m not at all bothered; I’d just like to clearly state my answer.

The answer…

No.

I am not scared.

I am not nervous.

I am not sad.

For one, the Bible has verse after verse commanding us to “fear not.” 365 verses, to be exact!

Isaiah 43:1

Fear not, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name. You are mine.

Luke 12:32

Do not fear, little flock, for it is you Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.

2 Timothy 1:7

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

… just to name a few.

Also, I am not afraid of my calling. At times, I have been concerned, cautious, or questioning about my call to missions, but never afraid.

I am so sure that this is the right path for me. Yes, I am leaving my family. Yes, I am leaving my friends. Yes, I am not immediately going to college. Yes, I am not going to be able to date for the next year. Yes, I will not have many earthly things or money.

BUT ALL OF THIS IS RUBBISH COMPARED TO SERVING MY LORD, FATHER, AND BEST FRIEND!!!!!

So all in all, I am not scared about this new season in my life. In fact, I have never been more at peace about a decision in my whole life.

Psalm 29:11

The Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace.

I am, however, extremely excited and expectant.

When you talk to me or think about me in the days and months to come, don’t think about how scared I am. Instead, join with me as I hope for signs, wonders, miracles, and salvations!

Now here’s the cherry on top. Go listen to this song about no fear and lots of peace.
