Hey everyone! For the last two weeks, I have been in Mokhotlong Village located in the mountains of Lesotho. I am here with two other teams, Tosa Kala and Unity, making a total of 20 people. We are staying at a mission compound for Harvesters Church and will be here until early November. We have various rooms with bunk beds and showers with warm water. I am staying in a room with Bella and Kim. We are such a chill group of roomies, usually going to bed by 9:30 and always having fruit and essential oils to share.
The ride up here was breathtaking! We arrived in Maseru on a Sunday night and drove up to Mokhotlong on Tuesday. Literally all of Lesotho is mountains and we drove up and down and all around the most beautiful mountains I have ever seen. As I rode in the back seat of the van, I told my squad leader, Jace, that in that moment, I felt so at peace with the world and with God I almost wondered if I had ever felt such peace before in my whole life. As we neared the village, it began to snow. Then it got harder. We were driving through a snowstorm in Africa.

As we disembarking the vans, we were greeted by our ministry hosts, Oliver and Tsebo, as well as the most adorable puppy. The first two days we spent getting used to the community and adjusting to our new ministry site. That Thursday, we began ministry. Ministry consists of 3 people giving a devotional at the hospital every morning, then either school, prison, or construction ministry mid-morning. Around lunch we have soup kitchen for the hospital patients and in the afternoons we usually have free time until high school bible study or landscaping by our ministry site. Earlier this week I gave a devotional at the hospital about turning away from fear and choosing love. I’ve also had the opportunity to pray for women at the soup kitchen, put up a barb wire fence, dig a garden bed, paint a door, minister in a prison, and play with children.

Outside of ministry is filled with adventure. Last weekend Megan, Millie, and I climbed up to some cliffs near the perimeter of the village. After gazing at the view from above, we made our way down to the valley floor where we had a picnic and swam in the freezing river. Then, naturally, we got lost. We wandered up and down rolling hills, waded through the river, and dodged herds of sheep until we found the main road that runs through Mokhotlong, then hiked home.

My team and I are growing substantially. This week we shared our life stories/testimonies. I understand and connect with them so much better now, and vice versa. We’ve enjoyed adventures together and shared experiences while learning about God. As ministry calls us to speak, preach, or act, we have answered its call. For some, this is easy, for others, not so much. But we encourage one another to step out of our comfort zones in ways both physical and spiritual.

The Lord has been a constant in my life these few weeks. I can’t say anything huge or life changing has happened, but I do know that every time I walk outside, my breath gets taken away by the sheer beauty. I am often reminded of God’s all consuming power and my overwhelming love for such a God.

All in all, life is pretty sweet! I can’t wait to see what the next two week have in store for us!
