In order to build a newer, bigger, better church, my team has been demolishing the old building and digging up the old foundation. We still have so far to go. Once we finish, the community will be able to build a huge, strong building in place of the old one.

This is like our relationship with God. He has to take down the old building first. It often takes longer than we think it will. The work is tedious and the rocks are heavy. But after He fully changes our old selves, He can begin to rebuild the better building.

We often think we are in the construction stage of the process, but if we take a good look at our lives, we would realize we are actually in the demolition stage of our old selves. There’s no shame in still being in this stage of life. And in some way or another, we will always be in both demolition and construction of our selves.

Be content with your current place in life. The preparation and foundation of a building is often the most important part. Without a strong foundation, a building will collapse. Let God be the contractor of your perfect house of life.
