Wingapo Friends!

Yesterday we had our first day of the three day event we are hosting in the Philippines. I spent all day teaching about creative worship with some lovely squadmates; it was one of my favorite days on the race.  We engaged with four groups of college students, danced, colored, discussed what worship is, and how we are made.  It was a super cool experience.

About halfway through the day, a girl approached me after session, asked if my name was Kathy, then asked if we could talk for a moment.  After agreeing I realized I had made a huge public speaking error:  I had forgotten to mention my name.  I wrote off her know my name as having been in and out of classrooms with our names floating around school for half a month now.

As we sat down, she explained that she had arrived late to the first session and had come in just in time for prayer and worship.  While she was praying she heard the name “Kathy.”  She could not attach anyone so she moved on to the next station.  As was sitting in the next station, she heard “Kathy” again.  This time she asked the friends she was sitting with if they knew a Kathy.  They mentioned one of the foreigners was named “Katherine,” and that she was in the upstairs room today.  She said that when she heard it she knew immediately this was correct.

As soon as session let out, she had hurried back to find me to share some words that the Lord had given her.  She shared Isaiah 43 with me, and it touched my heart as it always does.  When she left, it was less about the words she shared and more about the Lord caring enough to share my name with someone.

We have two more days of the event at school.  Please be in prayer for this event to soften hearts and to restore life.  If you could also pray that we would not be seen, but that only the Lord in us would be seen.  Thank you so much for the prayers and support!  They have been much felt.  The wildflowers and I have felt them.
