Well, we’ve taken a break in our traveling so I thought I’d say hey!
It’s been extremely bizarre to have been in so many places in such a short time. Just a couple of short weeks ago, we were on the sunny shores of Lake Atitlan. Even though it was a foreign language to us, we could still get around. From there, we traveled through the busy chaos of Mexico City and hopped a flight to Los Angeles. After a couple of months in Latin America, California seemed so big, and so clean! It was easy to relax and feel like we had completed our task. Just when we started to feel settled, we were back on the road again. Well, a fifteen and a half hour flight to be more accurate. We arrived to the bright lights and big city of Hong Kong. What an amazing city! We had a couple of days to sight see and catch up on rest before the next leg of our journey, a reeeeealllllly long train ride. I actually read the whole book “Memoirs of a Geisha” in between naps. We’ve now arrived in the city we’ll be staying at for a couple of days, before splitting the teams off into different villages. Our bodies are in shock, as we’ve left the great weather of Guatemala for a really cold climate. Kim L. bought a Sprite, and it actually started to freeze while she was drinking it! Now, that’s cold! I look forward to buying a really great warm coat. Hopefully soon. Really soon.
In the meantime, we are counting our blessings. We found a hotel with western-style toilets (a luxury after the squatty potties on the train… my balance should get really good while I”m here!), as well as a restaurant that sells big bowls of noodle soup for only 25 cents each. Yummm.
I do have a couple of prayer requests.
I woke up this morning feeling yucky with a sore throat. Please pray I would feel better and not get sidelined with an illness while I”m here.
Also, pray for discernment for our team. We are in a totally new culture, where we don’t speak any of the language, and religious beliefs are very different. We trust God will show us where to go and what to do, and we appreciate your prayers in this area.
By the way, I love to hear from you all. Drop me a note at [email protected]
Peace Out!
