Hello friends!

Life in the world race continues to show us how dependent we are on God…

The most recent leg of our journey began yesterday morning, as we left Mexico for Guatemala.   As a team we decided that our van´s time had indeed come, and sadly bid farewell to the flying turtle.   We enjoyed a 10 hour ride to the border on a mexican bus line , but that´s where the comfort ended and the adventure began!  We spent a crazy night traveling by taxi, bus, van,  and finally boating across the lake.     I had heard about the windy mountain roads of Guatemala… what noone told me is that the drivers go FLYING through the hairpin curves, passing one another whenever possible… I am so grateful that our ride was at night, when I couldn´t see how many near-death experiences I survived!  It was all worthwhile when we got our first gimpses of the beauty of guatemala as we watched the sun rise over the mountain as we boated through lake atitlan.  (Check out our team page for pictures)

The region is more hilly and mountainous than where we stayed in mexico, and we seem to have left the tropical foliage behind.  Banana trees have been exchanged for pine trees, and a now familiar sight is local women in their indigenous dress,  carrying  fabric or fruit for sale in baskets carefully balanced on their head.  The lakeside villages are quite charming, for all their touristiness, and we missionaries seem to be the only white people around without dreadlocks in hair.

Tomorrow we will be climbing the volcano, I am greatly looking forward to the views and the chance to stretch my legs after hours upon hours on the bus.  The folowing day, we will be determining our ministry sites for the next month.  There are several great possibilities, and we look forward to seeing what God has in store for us ministry-wise.  I am thrilled that we will be here for the next month, as it was sad for me to leave Mexico so quickly.  I look forward to building relationships with families here, and the more time the better.

In your prayers, please remember to praise God for his greatness, as He has provided so much for us already.  Pray that our preparations for the next month would go smoothly, as we will be looking to God for direction, and as we as a team are still learning about eachother and how we can work together to support eachother in expressing the gifts God has given each of us.  Please pray for our team´s support levels as well, as only one of us has been pledged full support, the rest of us are stepping out in faith for God to provide.

Thankyou all for your faithfulness in prayer.  Love you!
