Hey 🙂
I'm Katherine, although most people call me Kate or Kath, depending if I'm at home in Spicer, MN or at school at the University of MN Morris.
One thing you might want to know, I've never blogged.
Oh, and I'm an English major, but I am one who doesn't like to write.
Well, isn't that ironic…
And like most things, that statement isn't entirely true. I like to write when I am not expected to write. As a senior who is going to graduate this spring, I have been constantly writing essays for the past 4 years. As you can imagine, writing has taken it's toll.
I'm also not someone who has a lot to say, usually. So writing a completely free verse section "About me" is kind of hard. I mean, really, what does one say about one's self?!
Here I go:
Rugby has been a huge part of my life for the past 2 years. Unfortunately, I broke my collarbone this past fall tackling someone, which took me out fo the season.
Fortunately, God opened the theatre department door and I will be in my first children's production this spring. I am by no means a theatre major so I only have a small part, but I am super excited!
Eventually, I am going into Education, to be a Secondary Ed teacher. Although, hopefully at some point I will go for my masters in special education. Don't get me wrong, I read Shakespeare for fun over the summer so I obviously have a passion for the English discipline, but how could I not be attracted to teaching people who constancly have smiles on their faces?
This past summer I worked at Camp Confidence Learning Center, which is a camp for people with disabilities. I absolutely loved it there. My time there encouraged me to think more about the Special Ed program and how it can be improved.
I also volunteered for a year at Community Camphill Glencraig in Northern Ireland, working with special needs adults. It was an amazing experience I will never forget. It brought people of all backgrounds and cultures together to celebrate life.
Now, on this trip I have God to constantly celebrate. He has guided me to the World Race and I pray he continues to guide me as I work to fundraise.
