Our final month in the Philippines ended with what is called a debrief. Our squad mentor, and our Squad parents come in and assess how everyone is processing. We have team meetings and one on ones, in addition to sessions of worship and inspirational talks about digging in and investing in the Race, the teammates, the ministry, and most importantly, GOD.
All this introspection lead me to reassessing what I wanted and what I want from the Race, and in my notes I found a list of I had made before my initial interview or ever being accepted. They are motivational for me, and hopefully by listing them now they will enlighten you and give you a better understanding of my motivations. Even if they do not, it is still a great reminder for me during this time of transition from one country to another of how to daily recommit myself to Christ and doing His work.
I want God to continuously break my heart so that I am constantly urged to heal the hearts of others.
I want God to present hopeless and uncomfortable situations so He can shine through the darkness in miraculous grace and mercy.
I want to be stripped and tested and tried so that I am forced to lean and trust in Him fully without hesitation.
I want to no longer fight being weak and surrender so that the Lord is my complete strength.
I want to give my burdens to Him so that I can, unhindered, bless and be blessed in the privilege of serving the King and doing His will.
I use to say, “I just want to help people.” But that is not enough anymore. I want to SAVE people. I want to give people Jesus and share paradise and salvation with them. We are told to share our blessings generously to those in need. What greater blessing is there than and eternity with the Father, and what greater need is there than those who have not yet heard or accepted the Word, the Gospel?
I want to shake the world.
Not just once.
Everyday.
I want to experience pure love away from the tainted expectations and pressures of materialism. I want God to take away the distractions so insignificant and reveal what raw love is.
the POWER of His love.
I want to ring life, light, and love into people’s faces and their lives. I want to give them hope and the promise of a perfect future in Heaven with God.
I want to see and be a part of a radical change that will transform.
