Today was my last day at my job working as a nurse in the emergency room. The past couple of years have been some of the most difficult times of my life. My eyes have seen more than I ever imagined. Lost souls overdosing on drugs or trying to kill themselves. Families devastated by the death of their loved ones. People in agony and wasting away from cancer. Patients talking to you one second and dead the next. It is hard to put into words everything that can go on outside of the safety of the box in which we surround ourselves. The emotional and physical exhaustion is immense.
The stress is high and our load is always heavy. Sitting down and looking back now at the last couple of years I would not trade them for anything. I have seen God’s miracles take place. In my co-workers I have seen the love of God shine through their love and compassion for others. The verse that helped me get through each day in the ER is Matthew 25: 34-36, 40.

Then the King will say to those on his right, come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world.
For I was hungry, and you fed me.
I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink.
I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.
I was naked, and you gave me clothing.
I was sick, and you cared for me.
I was in prison, and you visited me.
And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’
Now that t
he chapter of my life as an emergency room nurse has closed I look forward to the new adventure God has placed in front of me.
To all of those that I have had the opportunity to work with, I feel so blessed to have seen Gods beauty with in you.
You have incredible strength and compassion for others.
I will miss you all.
