We have traveled from
Swaziland to a place called Refilwe, which is right outside of
Johannesburg,
South Africa.
We have been here since Wednesday night.
Refilwe is a community that provides many services to the area.
Refilwe means “hope” in one of the native languages here.
They provide homes for foster children and life skills such as sewing and agriculture.
Free daycare is provided due to many single parent house holds in the area.
HIV and TB clinics are available with free retro viral meds provided for HIV infected people.
During our stay here at Refilwe we are going to help run a children’s camp that will start on Monday.
The camp will have recreational activities for the children as well as a bible study lesson with crafts and worship.
The camp is free for all who want to come plus a meal is provided.
Children will come from all over the community who are ages 7-13.

Beautiful children of Refilwe
Since we have been here we have had the opportunity to help Refilwe in many different ways.
We have all had different tasks.
Some of us have been laying tile, cleaning the area, organizing food for the camp or cutting bamboo for fences.
My task was to cut off the ends of bamboo trees so that the length was just right for the fence.
Tomorrow camp starts and all of us are excited and prepared to help lift up a young generation.
After this week of camp, we will travel to another area in
South Africa to do two more weeks of camp.
