While visiting the prisons I have discovered that many of the women have feelings of loneliness. They have expressed feeling like they have been left behind or forgotten about.

I will never fail you. I will never abandon you. Hebrews 13: 5b

Jenny Dawson was speaking to the ladies at the prison and spoke one line I will never forget. “If you discovered the cure for cancer would you not want to go all around the world and share it with everyone dying and suffering from cancer”? There is a cure, and eternal cure. Jesus saves. Jesus will free you from the bondage you feel. You may be in prison and behind bars but you can be free. Many people not in prison are in bondage. Whether it is lust, drugs, idolatry, or alcoholism their bondage can drive them to great despair.

Each time we visit the prison we will worship with the women. Worship includes shaking our hips for Jesus or stomping the devil under our feet. After a word from the bible we will pray over each other. As the weeks pass and the women are growing and understanding more I have felt like I am watching a flower bloom. Jesus shines through them. Their kindness and love for us is so immense. As I sit here and think about the women, one of my favorite songs comes to my mind.

“Into marvelous light I’m running, out of darkness out of shame. By the cross you are the truth, you are the light, you are the way”. Marvelous Light, Charlie Hall
