Dear Friends and Family,
I am excited to share with you the opportunity that God has given me. In October, it has been placed on my heart to become a missionary for 11 months with the World Race. As God wills, I will be there from October 2020-September 2021. Each country has different work for us ranging from more manual labor(building or cleaning projects in orphanages, churches and ministries, painting, harvesting, etc.). As well as more relational based ministries, church planting, evangelism, prayer, teaching, sports outreach ministry, working with orphanages etc.. We will not know exactly what we will be doing in each country until about four months in advance.
On my route we’ll be going to:
• Costa Rica • Panama • Ecuador • Peru • Chile • Japan • Taiwan • Vietnam
• Cambodia • Malaysia • Indonesia
Why I Am Going!
Why this race? Why commit 11 months of my life serving other people around the world, why take the risk, why leave friends and family, why spend that amount of money, and why do something that is not culturally normal?
Life for me here is amazing. I have incredible friends, an amazing church, and most importantly my family at home is beyond amazing. To me this is my comfort zone the place where I love to be home I do not want to leave. However, It is time for me to grow up and stop being afraid of being uncomfortable. It is time for me to not only live a life committed to God but be someone after God’s own heart. I am excited to see how God is going to change me within the next year.
I can tell you that this is something deep down in my soul God has been preparing me for. From the moment I learned I was a child of Christ I knew I was meant for a life not of my own or this world but of His. I have been running from this call over the past four years and it is finally time for me to stop and go. God has called me into a life of loving his people and sharing His Word.
For the past four years God has been preparing my heart to serve him in a selfless way. I have had a number of opportunities to become a missionary overseas since I was a sophomore in college. However the timing never seemed right. I had made one excuse after another of why not to go. Yet God has remained patient in my choices of staying comfortable. However, I know it is personally time for me to go and become so uncomfortable that I am changed in a way I can not even imagine yet.
I know this is what I am supposed to do because I have prayed, denied, and tried to do other things, but a life as a missionary is what I am called to be. I know some still might not understand or get it and that’s completely fine, because sometimes I do not fully understand why me. However, I still ask for your support, prayers, and helping me through this journey. Although it will not be easy and I will be leaving everything I know, it is my time to be brave and finally run towards what God has called me to do.
John 8:32 “For you shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free”
How You Can Become a Partner!
I am excited to be a part of partnering with this organization to bring Christ’s love to the people across the globe, and I realize I will be blessed abundantly in return. However, as I know God is calling me to serve, I am relying on Him for strength and wisdom as I plan and raise financial support. I know all good things come from Him; for if it is His will, all will be provided. As I have now expressed my heart to you and desire to serve as a missionary, I know that I am not able to do it on my own. And as you feel called, I would be blessed if you would consider supporting me prayerfully and/or financially.
The total cost of the trip is $17,700, which I hope to raise before I leave in October. There are several ways YOU can get involved in helping me be the hands and feet for the Kingdom of God.
1) Being a Prayer Partner: During this journey I am asking people to pray for me, my team and the people we are serving.
2) Following my Blog: I will be blogging throughout this whole process; the year of preparation, the year of being on the field, and the transition back to the U.S. in 2021 so if you would like to follow you can subscribe to my blog at: katelynhutchison.theworldrace.org
3) Connect with me on Social Media: Facebook: Katelyn Hutchison; Instagram: @Hutch1502
4) Getting your Church involved whether that is financially or prayerfully. If presented with the opportunity I would be able to come and speak at different churches in hope to share what God has placed on my heart and my journey ahead.
