Hey family, friends, and supporters!
It’s been awhile since my last post…. that’s because life has been crazy busy but good. God has been working on my heart and helping grow in the giftings of the Holy Spirit and preparing me for the World Race which leaves in *gasp* 11 weeks!
I will start off with some info on Training Camp.
Here’s what you need to know:
IT WAS THE HARDEST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE
Seriously.
The only reason I made it through was The Lord.
I will do a quick breakdown of the 7 days I spent at camp.
Saturday the 11th:
3 hour flight to Atlanta where I hugged the people I had only known virtually up to this point… we played board games and talked waiting for our shuttle to camp to arrive. 1 1/2 hour bus ride to camp where we decked ourselves out in blue (N Squad’s color)… blue tutus, blue face paint (Braveheart style), blue attire, and chatted all the way to camp.
That night we got a rundown of camp life, where we’d be staying and then the heartache began… they asked for 7 women and 4 men from our squad family to volunteer to switch to another squad as ours was too big. I was angry, bitter that those in charge of creating our N Squad family had not had the idea to make a cut off to prevent this from happening.
There were 4 women volunteers and 2 men volunteers, knowing the other 5 members would be involuntarily picked from a bowl of names, I set my jaw and vowed to hate the one who initiated this painful event. Bec, Kiersten, Elle, Brandon and Brent were called from the bowl of names to switch squads.
The tears came. Furious tears asking God why He would let me make relationships like this and then have them stolen from my grasp. I heard ‘Be still’ so clearly that I looked over my shoulder thinking one of my teammates had spoken this to me. Nothing but more angry faces and sad hearts behind me.
The night ended with several of us sharing our 2 person tents, (which actually means 1 person and 1 backpack) with squadmates, as our campsite was not big enough for everyone to have an individual tent. I shared mine with my squadmate, Kyla, so we had 2 bodies, 2 day packs, 2 sleeping pad/sleeping bag combos in a space meant for half of that. Then came the rain. Loud, pouring, rain that lasted roughly and hour and we lay in terror thinking my tent was going to collapse any moment and have the downpour soak our belongings.
No sleep. Broken hearted and the thought in the back of my head reminding me to ‘Be still’.
This began day two which will be continued…
