Welcome to Month 5 of the World Race!
N Squad just left Asia after four great, challenging, beautiful months.
We are entering a new season filled with different challenges, new teams, beautiful weather and landscape, (goodbye humidity and smog!) and we are so blessed to be living in ‘The Warm Heart of Africa’ for the month of May!
My new team is called Team Technicolor. Our team leader is Jess, my four other teammates are Kris, Audrey, Collins and Emma. All girls! Woohoo! Super excited to do life with them in Africa. Please pray for unity and amazing experiences in ministry and everyday life in the next several months we have together.
We are living with a local Pastor and his family this month, they are an extremely generous and kind family and I pray we can bless them as they bless us during this time. We will be working with the local village and doing ‘door to door’ evangelism, we will have the opportunity to work with children in the orphanage and women caught in prostitution. Not sure what everyday life will look like yet with our ministry, but looking forward to what God has planned for us.
Our living conditions are quite a bit different than our months in Asia and will likely be very challenging and very life changing all at once. We are sharing the home not only with the family who lives there, but Team Avengers as well. The 6 of us girls are in one room that is approximately 10×12 feet. The ground is covered in dirt, walls made of concrete and roof covered with metal panels. We have laid out our sleeping pads and sleeping bags as the temps can get pretty chilly at night. Bathroom accommodations are a Western toilet where we fill the back of the basin with water in order to flush it, toilet paper in a plastic bag; showers will likely be bucket showers this month. We are cooking most of our own meals and have a hot plate in a neighbors home to use for those. Wifi will be limited to once a week or less as we have to travel to connect to Internet. Overall I am very thankful for all that we have to live by this month, I feel very assimilated to the Malawian people and cannot wait to experience a little bit of life in their shoes.
Malawi is as Pastor Blessings called it, “…a fertile ground for the gospel…”. It is a nation with about 11% of the population being affected by AIDS. Life expectancy is about 54 years old. Having only been in the country for about 24 hours, I can already sense a light about it. I know that the God’s presence is in this place and I am so excited to be apart of sharing the gospel and loving people like Jesus does.
Pray for this country, this month and my team.
Please consider supporting me in the final $1,600 I need in order to be fully funded.
Thank you all and love you!
