Hey everybody! I hope you’re enjoying the beginning of summer!! I’ve been eating more ice cream in the past week than I have all year. Life feels pretty great and my fears about the World Race are literally being transformed into joy and excitement. I first want to say THANK YOU for your prayers. I feel God working in my heart in a really mind-blowing way. THANK YOU for your Facebook shares and likes and comments, kind words, and financial donations. I am so loved and incredibly humbled by the amount of love and support that has been poured onto me. Seriously, THANK YOU!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

(and answers)

What is the World Race?

“he World Race continues to change. It is expanding overseas and in the States, yet its foundations stay the same. It is a journey to 11 countries in 11 months to serve “the least of these” while amongst real and raw community. It facilitates discipleship through the process of discovering into the abundant life He promised. It births partnerships with ministries around the world.”

Where will you be going?

I had the choice of 5 different routes and I chose route 2! This is my schedule:

January – Peru

February– Eduador

March– Colombia

April – Montenegro

May– Bulgaria

June– Albania

July– Nepal

August– India

September– Malaysia

October – Thailand

November– Cambodia

(Some people have asked me which Country I’m most excited about visiting and honestly I can’t choose one! I am trying to let go of any expectations I have of them.)

What will you be doing?

This is such a great question and one that I wish I could give a very clear response to. The truth is that I don’t know! I have read stories about past racers and from those who are on the field now and they have all done/are doing different things. I stole this description from the World Race website.

“Every day on the World Race looks a little different. Some days will be packed full with construction, VBS, building relationships with orphans, or praying for the sick at a hospital. Some days could be slower — shopping for groceries at the market, cooking for your team, and spending time praying for the community you walk through. Regardless of the pace or the activity, every day will be focused on being a part of God’s kingdom work.”

How much money do you have to raise again?

Oooo I’m getting better at saying this out loud!

$16,300

This money covers travel, training costs, food, lodging, and all other group expenses. This does not cover personal spending money or money used to do fun activities such as riding an elephant or bungee jumping. (don’t read this part mom!)

How can I support you?

Prayers and kind words are so helpful and essential to this process. I saw a friend a few weeks ago who said, “Katelin, when I heard you were going on the World Race I immediately thought it perfect for you!” WOW. That alone was so encouraging and affirmed in my heart that I am on the right path.

Financial donations are absolutely a necessity as well. I don’t have to have all of the money raised for my trip before I leave in January, but I would like to be almost there. Here is a timeline of how much I need and when.

$3,900 – Due 9/25/2015
$10,000 – Due 12/18/2015
(Launch: January 2016)
$13,000 – Due February, 2016
$16,962 – Due April, 2016

The fastest and easiest way to donate is through the “SUPPORT ME” tab on the top of this page. All donations are tax deductible! You have the option of doing a one time donation, a monthly donation, or a quarterly donation. If 30 people committed to donating $50 dollars a month I would exceed my goal! Please pray and consider donating financially to my trip.

Are you sure you want to go?

Yes! And on the days that I’m not sure, God reminds me why I do. A few years ago I went on a mission trip to Ethiopia for 10 days. It wasn’t a long time, but I remember not wanting to leave. I loved the excitement of being in a new place, not knowing the language, and speaking to others through service, smiles, hugs and love. I know that this is my “next step” and I am so excited to get to work preparing.

Thank you for reading this! Thank you for asking questions!! If you have any more questions please leave them in the comment section or send me an e-mail at [email protected]. If you have any suggestions on fundraising activities I am all ears.

Blessings galore!
