For the past three months my team and the two coed teams on my squad lived in Harbuchulule, Ethiopia at a children’s village called Hopethiopia. We taught English, planted and watered trees at a reforestation site by the river, visited local schools to teach English and play volleyball, weeded vegetable gardens, visited the families that are sponsored by hopethiopia, helped at the hospital with the midwives, spent time with the village house moms that take care of all the kids, preached and sang worship in church, and spent time everyday with the sweetest and most adorable African orphans in the whole world.
Jesus told me that He was going to do a new work in my life and after looking at these past 9 months, but 3 months especially, I’ve seen so much fruit and answered prayers. I’m beyond thankful and can’t thank God enough for the love that I’ve felt here, even when it was tough. His presence and careful hand is so evident here in this place and I’m so thankful he entrusted my friends and I to live here and love on his precious sons and daughters.
Now, I’m home in America and He’s told me He’s still making new wine. I’m so excited for what is yet to come and I’m beyond thankful for all that He’s given me!
“In the crushing, in the pressing
You are making new wine
In the soil, I now surrender
You are breaking new ground
So I yield to you and to your careful hand
When I trust you, I don’t need to understand
Make me your vessel
Make an offering
Make me whatever you want me to be
I came here with nothing, but all you have given me…”
