We made it to Cambodia!!! We stayed one night in a hostel in Phnom Pehn then took an 8 hour bus ride to Battambang. We’re staying at this beautiful house that is right next door to our ministry hosts. It’s called Ezra ministry and they teach children English. The first night we were welcomed with tons of kids and we played with them for hours. There is one kid in particular who has really touched my squads heart. His name is So Panha and he goes everywhere with us. He’s actually sitting right next to me as I write this. I’m so thankful for him because he reminds me of my nephew Rae’ Vonte and he’s so adorable. Homesickness is real here, even within the first week. But God is so good!!!! Yesterday we met model UN (United Nations) students and discussed our different cultures to help them in their debates. Today and the rest of this week we are painting murals in a Buddhist school. Next week, I’ll be clearing out a field by Ezra ministries to make a soccer field for the kids. Then in the afternoon I’ll be performing skits and shows for people in a local hospital and then going to this restaurant called Green Mango Cafe. There, I’ll be creating relationships and getting to know rescued victims from human trafficking.
It’s hot, sweaty, the food is spicy, I’ve seen a lot of weird bugs, smelled a lot of smelly smells, but I’m so happy. Cambodia is amazing and I’m excited to live here for the next two months!!
