I leave for training camp in 20 days and then I launch for the world race in 80 days. Four countries in nine months. Nine months away from my loved ones and away from everything comfortable. I’ve been asking the Lord to fill me with peace. He never fails to still my soul.
As sweet summer is upon us I find myself gasping in awe at the beauty of all our Creator has done. The vibrant green trees, the flowers budding with life, the blue skies filled with warm sunshine leaking over the Earth. The colors of the sunrise seem to be His good morning kiss to us all. I’ve been seeing everything around me with fresh eyes. With eyes that see a glorious sight each and every day. My heart swells with such an intense joy at the sight of these delicate views. Driving along the road, lined with trees bursting with life, I hear the Lord whisper. “Just a glimpse of the beauty in eternity with me.” Just a glimpse. Just a taste. I am hungry for more of His love. For more of His presence. He is more beautiful than any sight we’ve ever seen. Far more magnificent. Far more lively. Far more glorious.
Our Father is big. He has a big love for us. His power is great. Psalm 33 verse 6 reads, “By the word of the Lord the Heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host. He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap; he puts the deep in storehouses.” He breathes life into all things. Placed the stars in the sky and calls them by name. He speaks and it stands firm. His designs are made to last. The beauty of His works lay all around us. From the simplest flowers in a field to the person sitting beside you in a coffee shop. He has designed each with such tender love. So take a double look, ask for eyes to see. To truly see the magnificent beauty scattered all around.
As I have been asking my King for peace I realize over the past few weeks He has given me fresh eyes. Fresh eyes to see my surroundings with a newfound awe. Fresh eyes to see my family despite the flaws. Fresh eyes to see a stranger without judgment but to look upon them with the love He has for each of us. It’s crazy you know. I asked for peace, not knowing what it might entail. & He chose to give me fresh eyes to see His beauty with passion. My knees have hit the floor and my eyes have been lifted to the skies for my King has me covered. Covered with protection, covered with love, covered with grace. No fear in the unknown. But a great expectancy for His Kingdom come. If it’s beautiful right now, right this very second, just wait. Earth as it is in Heaven.
