If you know me at all, you know I am a planner. I like having things scheduled and organized. Following my senior year of high school, I had every intention of attending college. In fact, I actually looked forward to going to college. When you graduate high school, you go to college, get your degree, figure out your future and hope everything else will just fall into place. That was the plan, my plan at least. God on the other hand had different, greater plans in mind.
A few months ago, I heard about the World Race from a friend of mine. I thought wow, that sounds absolutely incredible, but that’s not for me — it just doesn’t work with my plans. God kept putting it on my heart to apply, but me, being stubborn I continued to dismiss His plan. I found myself questioning, why me? I am not good enough. I am not worthy. I am not qualified. But here’s the thing about God– He does not call the qualified. He qualifies the called.
As I was driving, the same week God revealed His plan for me, I heard Micah Tyler’s song, ‘Different’ for the first time. There is a line in the song that goes, “I don’t want to trade your plan for something familiar.” (Well played, God, well played). That line gave me the affirmation I needed to apply for the World Race. So I did.
Now here I am, accepted into the World Race Gap Year program, embarking on Route 2, to Romania, Costa Rica, and Ecuador in September 2019. I cannot put into words how excited I am to see how God will use me in those nine months. I am ready to pick up my cross and to show love to the broken and unreached.
There are many ways you can support me on this journey as I pursue God’s plan.
1. First and foremost, prayer! Please pray for safety, for provision, and for the unreachable to be reached.
2. Subscribe to my blog! Here, I will be posting updates pre-race, on-race, and post-race about how God is working in my life and the lives of those around the world. Just click the orange ‘Subscribe for Updates’ button to receive an email every time I post a new blog.
3. Financially support me! I need to raise $16,600 to participate in this program. Any donation, big or small, means so much to me! If you feel led to donate, click the orange ‘Donate!’ button at the top of this page.

With love,
Kate
