Before I begin further, I just want to boldly claim bounds of grace over my first month of blogging or lack thereof! J We finally have come to a place with good internet connection and some extra time so I am going to try my best to catch ya’ll up!

It has been so exciting to be allowed a glimpse of the picture of what God is doing throughout New Zealand!

This past month my team along with three other World Race teams partnered with Youth With A Mission to help host the YWAM Jubilee and Call to All mission conferences where people gathered from places such as Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Tonga, New Caledonia, Philippines, and about 35 other nations. Being amongst so much diversity of language, culture, appearances, etc and yet sharing a similarity that bonds tighter than the blood of your own brother is an experience that I feel will mirror what heaven will be like!

What made this event so unique is that it hosts the largest map in the world weighing in at one ton! It was almost the size of an entire football field! Something hits you when looking at the world in such a display. You feel like you have your own little place in the world, but at the same time something also pricks at your heart to be a part of something that goes beyond the borders of what you know. Do people get caught in the moment of it all? Most likely, but what if this was the moment of your lifetime that redirects the course of who you are, who you become? Its powerful, its God, and its bigger than us. Its such a desire of my heart to be in the midst of something bigger than who I am. What a blessing it was to serve at this event!

Furthermore, we also helped at ChangePoint Church where we did a lot of manual labor. What an amazing group of people that make up this church! They have such an anointing of God upon their ministry. During the weekdays Tauranga House of Prayer is located here. It was established by the founders of IHOP aka International House of Prayer in Kansas City. I learned deeper the power of being on my knees. Each day for the entire previous week before these huge conferences we joined others in prayer, worship, and interceding for God to release Himself in God-size ways in the people of New Zealand and those traveling from around the world to these events. This became a place of freedom, of power, and of declaration for me personally.

It was new for me to go to a country and spend so much time in prayer rather than doing and serving. It makes me think of a quote that I will never forget by Jerry Fallwell, the founder of my school… Liberty University. He said that “Nothing of eternal significance can ever happen apart from prayer.” Are we called to bring a change in the moment that will only fade away, or truly make an impact that reaches to the forever’s of eternity? …only through the power of God in us.

So, yes, this month was different. It wasn’t really what I expected. Instead of coming as the center of attention…as the one’s who taught, or preached, or gave of our talents, we came in as behind the scene servants who filled in the gap. I believe this month was so vital in preparing us for the rest of the year. I don’t believe we left New Zealand the same people we came in as. It was a great deal of learning to pray in power, learning the power of the Holy Spirit within, and learning community amongst each other. I have learned that the value of community is just as impacting as ministry. Its about building one another up, speaking life into one other, and helping others achieve the freedom to become the person God intends us to be. Wouldn’t we all be a better us if we had that consistently in our lives! We are so blessed to have each other in this journey, and in a way are becoming family to one another.
