World Racers are known for one thing for sure…We can find Wi-Fi anywhere!

Besides the whole “landing and expanding” thing, we seek out and find wireless no matter where it is, how much it costs, and how long the walk is. There are good connections and plenty of bad connections. We have even been known to think we have the power to change a bad connection to a good connection by how many times we click refresh. We “need” wireless for blog postings, twitter updates, photo uploading, Skype chatting, Facebook stalking, Pinterest pursuing, Instagram following, and email checking.

But are World Racers also known for seeking out Christ in the same way? Not just World Racers really. I ask myself this question…Am I known for seeking out Christ like I seek out the things I “need” like Wi-Fi?

Why is it that I could spend hours trying to get Skype to work in some remote village just so I can talk to someone back home for a moment? Why do I seek out time to talk to my parents or my boyfriend like it is the last thing I need to do in this life?

Would I seek out time with the Lord like that? Would I spend the same amount of time trying to find time to talk to God during my day? Would I seek to find a Bible so I could read God’s love letter to me the same way I try to get my emails to load at a Wi-Fi hotspot in a cafe? Would I pass up sleep for more time to worship God in the same way I do to catch up on blog writing, photo editing and Facebook stalking?

Now don’t get me wrong, all those things are good. They are important too. I am blessed to be able to talk to my family and friends back home. Communication and technology have come a long way and God blesses us with this ability to stay connected with back home. But do we put more time and energy into seeking out what we think will bring us gratification? The instant gratification of talking to someone at home is also instantly unfulfilling. We are seeking out the love, acceptance, and value of what is at home, or on Facebook, or anywhere else for that matter but the real place of Love, Acceptance and Value is Christ.

Even in the midst of finding gratification in other things, Christ will continue to show me the connection worth searching for
Proverbs 8:17 “I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.”

Maybe on this journey around the world I will not only learn the quickest and best way to find internet, but also the most intimate way to find the Lord first and foremost as the only NEED in my life.
