It is here! My time in the DR is almost over! I am headed to Haiti, but not until I can learn some lessons from the Dominican Republic! Here are some funny little things I picked up along the way. So many great things happened in the DR, I hope to share them with you soon! 1 month down, 10 to go.

It is common in the DR to…

·      Mop the floor and see little footprint on it seconds later
·      Run from cockroaches after the sun has gone down
·      Scratch your leg for 30 minutes not even knowing why you are scratching it
·      Buy a coke/coffee simply to use the internet in a café
·      Throw your TP in the trash rather than the toilet
·      Take bucket showers
·      Drink cold water like it is the only thing that matters in life
·      Walk 20 minutes through town for dinner to realize that it is closed.
·      Wait 2 hours for your bus to show up, then receive a call that it wont be coming
·      Rest at a beach that feels like paradise
·      Burn really easy because you are right on the equator
·      Have your ministry work you to the bone, or cancel on you everyday
·      Never really feel clean
·      Wake up to dog fights, construction and car alarms every morning
·      Eat foods you don’t even know how to say and love them!
·      Hand wash your clothes 3 times in one day because they blew off the line back
            into the dirt
·      To hear noises being made at you and never turning to look at where they are
coming from because you don’t want to know
·      Communicate over Google translate
·      Paint your toenails with dirt on them still
·      Buy American brand foods but not eat American tasting contents
·      Sweat during the day like no ones business and freeze at night
·      Scream blood curtailing screams because spider babies are running from their
mom after you caught the mom in a Tupperware
·      Get sick from too much cheese in your diet-mac and cheese, cheese pizza, cheesy
            stuffed peppers, and cheese empandas
·      Shop for new clothes and realize just how cheap you have become as a
            missionary
·      Prefer to sit in the bed of a truck rather than the cab
·      Humble yourself at the sight of a pastor praying on his knees before church
·      You use more sign language than the actual spoken language
·      You lean on God when everything else seems to not make sense and you see just
a glimpse of what the World Race will look like
·      You come to the end of yourself to meet God fully!

Dominican you have taught me alot. I love you. I will miss you.
