My time in Southeast Asia has passed, and now we’re in Africa! My new team, Holopeve is in Blantyre, Malawi, and there is so much to celebrate. I have come to the conclusion that it is the most beautiful place I have ever been. We are surrounded by mountains, and everything is so green and luscious. We have already climbed the mountain next to our home, gone to a nature reserve and seen loads of baboons, mastered the markets, and successfully cooked for ourselves for almost a month now. One of my teammates and I walk up the hill to the market everyday, and fresh mangoes are 6 cents a piece so life is good. Our hosts are great! Their names are Jarvis and Catherine, and they have three kids, Sharon, Shannon, and Shalom who was born the day after we arrived.

Our ministry for the next three months is working at Life Child Moyo Preschool in a village called Baluti, so basically we get to play with sixty three to five year olds every day. I’m with the four year old class, and they have stolen my heart. They are very snuggly and energetic and full of joy! The class is learning the abc’s, numbers, and shapes. I have definitely been peed on already. They love to sing and dance, but their favorite thing to do is climb on me and pull my hair. Every day is a whole new adventure.

I am so overwhelmed by the joy here. Everyone is so friendly and interested in us. They call white people azoongoo, so that’s my new name. When we walk to the market or drive by in the mini bus almost everyone we pass says “hello azoongoo!” It’s crazy to think it’s been three months already. It’s flown by, and I have loved every minute of it. I can’t wait to see what The Lord has in store for the next six months!
