My name is Kate Johnston, and I’m eighteen years old. I am from Memphis, Tennessee (Go Grizzlies) and have lived there my whole life. I just graduated from Westminster Academy this past May. Throughout my senior year I started to feel like nothing was working out for me especially concerning my future, and I felt like college wasn’t going to be the next step for me.

So… Next year I am overjoyed to be participating in the World Race Gap Year October Route 1 through Adventures in Missions. Just to be clear this trip is not me running away from college or responsibilities. I feel like I have been called by God to go and love His people around the world. I will be traveling to Guatemala, Thailand, and Malawi for three months each, launching in October.

There are a lot of unknowns for me about this trip. I don’t know what order I will go to these countries. I don’t know where in those countries I’ll be. I don’t know anyone else going. I don’t know what specifically I will doing. I don’t know what I’ll do when I get back.

Luckily, there are a lot of knowns as well. I know I will leave in October. I know I will sleep in a tent with a sleeping bag for nine months. I know I will live out of a backpack. Most importantly I know that God will provide for me. His plan is always the best one, and it will all work out.

Here are a few random facts about me.
I love playing, watching, and coaching soccer.
I have one dog who I love more than most people, and four chickens.
I know a little Spanish, Latin, Greek, and French.
I love sushi, ice cream, and strawberries.
     I love horses.

Please keep my team and me in your prayers, and check back here for updates!

Hebrews 12:1 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”
