Wow. Just wow.
How in the world did I end up here? It almost doesn't seem real that next year at this time I will be serving in Latin America!
Confession time. Since I saw that there was a Spanish Route and it was first on my heart to do the World Race, I have been stalking all the World Race blogs, and since being accepted, I have been stalking those who are also on the Spanish Route with me. So many racers talk about how they wanted to do this for years and just now worked up the courage. Some have been thinking about this since before I even began following the Lord. But the beauty of the Lord is that he has a different journey for each of us, and each of our purpose is to glorify him.
So back to how I got here. I am currently a student at Appalachian State University. The original plan was to graduate in May 2014, but because of some credit from high school and a few summer classes, I realized that I could graduate a semester early, in December 2013.
All of this was decided before I ever thought about doing the World Race. Honestly, it wasn't really a thought in my mind at first. I was reading my friend Chaney's blog (she's currently on the race, Go Chaney!!) and then I saw that the January 2014 routes were posted, so I checked them out. As I saw the list of countries, I realized that all of them were Spanish-speaking countries. With no plans for what I was doing after graduation, I began the application right then and there. Even as I was working on it, I had doubts. I went back and forth on whether or not I should do it. After a lot of prayer and weighing my options, I know this is it.
It's no coincidence that I decided to graduate early and only a short time later Adventures in Missions announced its first ever Spanish route. I can't explain how excited I get each and every time I think about it or tell someone about what the Lord is doing.
I'm pumped. The Lord is going to do big things. The Lord IS doing big things now!
I will be posting pretty regularly, so if you want to subscribe to my blog, click "update alerts" on the left and enter your email!
