It is hard to believe that we are already in Month 7! Only 5 more months till I am back home. I am sorry that I have not been very good at updating my blog these pass two months, I hope to have a new one posted soon. The good news is I have been better about making recap videos! I hope that they allow you to see a glimpse of what my life in that country looked like.
We spent month 6 in Vietnam. I spent the majority of the month working at a local primary school. Unlike most primary schools in the United States, the teachers do not stay in one classroom with one group of the students. Instead, the students stay in the same room, but the teachers switch for each subject. As a result, I was able to work with all the kids from Pre-K to Grade 5. I taught a wide variety of subjects across the grade levels including math, science, reading, and of course English.
In addition to core subjects, I was also able to attend many field trips. For one of the field trips we took the students to a local grocery store. We also went to a ceramics factory. The students got to see and learn about the process of making ceramics and were able to decorate a bowl of their own.
Every Wednesday we got to help prepare lunches for children in a local hospital. We came alongside a group of women who have been doing so for over 8 years. We helped cut vegetables and then package the meals into bags.
Overall, Vietnam was one of my favorite months thus far. I hope you enjoy the video!
