So it’s real iv been here serving in all kinds of ways the first big one is Reforestation, then there is building a road, maintaining the apple orchard, discipling house moms, the gardens, teaching…the list goes on and on.
Let me give you a glimpse into what our days looks like…
First wake up. I’m up around 7 and starting the morning with some music and journaling. Then breakfast which is normally always bread and maybe oatmeal or an omelet or maybe French toast or pancakes! Then I have about an hour of time I get to spend doing devotional and being filled up and fed for the day! Every other day 4 girls from my team and two boys go to reforestation which is the coolest place I have ever been in my whole life. Hundreds and hundreds of acres that the government gave to hopethiopia to reforest is now there’s to plant on. This place is about a 25 min walk and it is on the other side of the mountain down by the river! Wow is the walk the best time ever…you get to walk through the whole village of Harbu chaluli and when you get to the high point of town you get to gaze at a rolling countryside and beautiful mountains made by the hand of God! It is marvelous! You get to walk through a field of eucalyptus that smells like a little bit of heaven… then there’s the sight, and if your from Wisconsin you know what I’m saying when I say it feels like your in the woods with the smell of the cold dirt and the fresh pines! While your there you water all the new little trees with water that you get from the super cold river. After that the sweet friends that are employed at this sight make the coolest mixture of dirt that helps the amount of trees that grow and then you pack dirt. This means sitting on a rock with your friends around the pile of dirt and packing dirt into plastic cylinders that they then put the tree seeds into plant! And yes it’s so fun hahah!
On the opposite days of reforestation i find myself building a road, teaching, in the kitchen, or even tending to the gardens!
Lunch and afternoons are filled with rest and playing with lots of kids or going to town! I have loved it so so much here. The people, the country, the ministry opportunities, but what I love most thus far about being here is my perspective on “ministry” has absolutely been destroyed.
While being here I have learned that it’s all actually just LOVE. It’s not called ministry. It’s called actual real authentic full transparency of Gods love being poured out through us in all we do! It’s called Monday Tuesday, and Wednesday, nothing else. Living a love filled life is not found by going on a mission trip it’s a adventure with Jesus that we all get to choose into and experience! Guys I’m not on a mission trip, your not supporting a mission trip you are supporting me in being able to love the needy, the hungry, the naked, the prisoners. This is what we are all called to. It’s just a matter of choosing to live that way! Life here is amazing it is refreshing and I’m thankful I get to live it!
