Hello All!!!
As many of you already know my next chapter in life is right around the corner! Many of my friends will be starting college, but I will not. Next September, I leave for the start of my gap year. If you know me you probably already know way too much about The World Race- Gap Year, because what else am I supposed to talk about… but if not I’ll give you the run down. The World Race- Gap year is a nine month mission trip to five different countries. The way it works is 55 squad members are on a route and you get divided into teams of about 6, these are the people you live with for the next nine months. My squad is going to Lesotho, Swaziland, Nicaragua, India, and Nepal. My team and I will be serving together to build the kingdom of Christ, but not in your typical setting. Ministry on the race is not your average ministry; we could be working with sex slaves, playing with kids, doing door to door evangelism, feeding the hungry, praying for the sick, or fulfilling any other needs that our community may have.
In this day and age I’ve realized a lot of people are going to ask “why?”. So I’m going to answer the “Why are you going?” question up front. I’ll start with a quote, “You know those things that have pinged you? Those gifts that are beautiful? Those countries and people who are most important to you? The God you love? Keep moving toward those.”(Bob Goff) Ever since 6th grade missions has pinged me. It started with simple trips to Atlanta in middle school and then in high school my borders were expanded to the Dominican Republic and Haiti. A question for you to ponder, where do you feel the most you? I feel the most me on these mission trips. I’m able to simply be and be what God created me to be. Why run from what you were meant to do? Why try to cover up all God has laid out for you? Why walk on the wide easy road to the known, when you can squeeze your way down the narrow path to the greatness of Our Father? Would you look at that, I just stated that people say why too much and then I used it way too many times. But really, I want to be where I think God can use me the most. I want to do anything to know Him more and to make Him known. That is why I’m doing the unspeakable and skipping a year of school and postponing real life.
As you can imagine, getting me there is the hardest part and that’s where you guys come in! And no I’m not strictly asking for money, although yes that would be great, but I’m asking for prayer; prayers for the countries I will be traveling, for the people I will encounter, for my team, for my squad, for safety, and for God’s will to be done on this journey.
Thank you for all your support and love,
Kassie Arrington
