Dear friends and family,
My life is about to change. It’s as simple as that. I have been praying for God to show me the direction in which He wants me to go; and boy did He! In less than 7 months I will pack as much as I can into a 65-liter backpack, and I will venture into the world. 11 countries to be exact, to spread the good news of the Lord. It all happened kind of fast, and excruciatingly slow at the same time. I have been accepted into an 11 month missions trip called The World Race. The race is through the organization, Adventures in Missions. Something about the race though, it’s not only a “mission trip”, the race is an intensive discipleship training program designed to train our generation to abandon worldly possessions and the traditional American lifestyle for an understanding that it’s not about you; it’s about the Kingdom!
During these 11 months I, along with a group of other mission minded individuals will be traveling to Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Swaziland, Lesotho, South Africa, China and Mongolia. 11 countries in 11 months. I will give up the easiness my life has been and live solely out of one backpack. I will sleep in tents, on roofs and in airports. I will eat foods I have never heard of and see places I could have never imagined. Most importantly though, I will have the opportunity to “go into the world and make disciples”. I wish I could tell you everything that I would be doing, give you a detailed itinerary, but honestly, that’s just not how missions works. I can tell you that we will be working in the communities of these countries helping in whatever way we can while spreading the good news and love of Jesus Christ. We will be working with the “least of these” and my heart could not be more full. I am honored, humbled and quite frankly, scared. But I know that the Lord has called me, and I have chosen to listen.
Here is where you come in. In order to accomplish what the Lord has called me to do, I am going to need some help. The first thing I ask from all of you, please pray for me. Pray for me now, and pray for me while I am gone. There will be a lot of things during these 11 months that are extremely out of my comfort zone, but I know that “the Lord is with me, and I will not be afraid”. The second thing, the most uncomfortable part, is financial help. Between training, travel, lodging, food, insurance and other expenses, the total for this trip is just over $18,000. While that seems like a big number, (and it is!) I know that “with God, all things are possible”. I would like to ask you all to prayerfully consider donating. I’m not asking you to donate to me, but to donate to the mission that God has called me to. There are a few different ways to donate. Cash is not accepted. You can donate by a check, payable to Adventures in Missions (with my full name in the memo) and return the response card included, with your donation. You can also donate online at kasieosborne.theworldrace.org, by clicking the “donate” tab. All donations are tax-deductible. Remember that there is no “small donation”. If you feel God wants you to give he will give you an amount.
