An Open letter to the students of Ngwane Park Preschool.

I want to start by thanking you wonderful group of children. You accepted “Teacher Kasie” in without a second thought. You loved me, protected me, and played with me.

We spent hours on the play ground. You taught me how to turn a broken tire swing into something that allowed 5 people to swing at once. And also, “if you want to play, make a big circle big circle”. We sat on a log for hours and worked on your English words, and even taught one another how to properly pronounce our names. You even tried to teach me to wink with my right eye.
While you all were learning the difference between triangles and squares, and figuring out which was yellow and which was red, I was learning too. I helped you with colors and shapes, and you helped me open a part of my heart, that I didn’t know was closed. I wasn’t learning about which was a door and which was a window, but I did see the light of God shine through that window. And He shined it right on you.

You taught me to smile in the hard times. And how to laugh even if you were sad. You showed me what it looks like to love, without holding back. And how to accept someone, just because thats what Jesus did. You taught me that it costs nothing for time well spent, and that real fun is open to anyone.

I came on the World Race wanting to do something great, make a difference in someone’s life. Now I know, God brought me on the race so people could help me, and make a difference in mine. So that a bunch of 4 and 5 year olds could love me without knowing me. And show me how to love others better.
In a time, place and situation where you have every right to be sad and scared, or feel hurt and broken, you shine God’s light in every breath. Where most people would be struggling, you stand firm in your love for the Lord, and that changed me the most.

Knowing the group of you, knowing how much you desire to learn, makes me see areas where I could have the same sense of wonder! Please never lose yours. Keep your wonder, keep your smile, and keep your want to know more about Jesus.

Remember from class, sometimes life is a bunch of push and pull, but hold tight to the love of the Lord, and know that He has you!
I’ll love you forever and always!
Signed,
Teacher Kasie
