Quite literally.
A few sundays ago, our ministry invited all of their churches to the ministry site. It was planned out to be a smooth service, full of worship and fellowship with no mishaps. But God, to say the least, is a really funny guy. A real life prankster. It’s obvious of course, he made flamingos, how’d he even think of that? Not sure but, all in all it’s because He is funny.
He thought it would be funny on this nice Sunday morning service to bring a rain storm through. Which is okay, our team set up a tarp the day before to keep the church members out of the sun so luckily no one got rained on. But then, with the help of our horrible rope tying skills and the heavy amount of collected rain, the tarp decided to fall … all over the people under it. Kinda funny but, not if you were the one under it. For me, I was standing at the front of the service literally sharing my testimony with close to 300 strangers who don’t even speak English. How was I supposed to keep that laughter in? To say the least I didn’t for a quick second but, God brought focus upon me.
He knew that someone in the church needed to hear the story that God gave me. The proof that God is alive. He knew someone would be impacted. I had no clue, I was just sharing what He put on my heart, but Him, He knew. He knew that despite the storm rolling though, He had the power to give myself and a church member focus to speak and hear what was needed. He opened my mouth and gave me boldness then, He opened up someone’s ears and gave them acceptance.
My last blog was about walking outside of my comfort zone. That day, I did that. I was rewarded for that in knowing how fruitful the mercy that God shows me is. The kingdom grew because of God and the things He is doing in this world. He placed a season of fatherlessness in my life to grow me and then He used my growth to grow His kingdom. He knew that when I was worried about growing up with only one parent, He would show up in my heart to make it known that He is my father. He knew I would accept Him into my heart to be my father and that I would share that decision for to bring hope to the nations hearing it.
God is a funny man, seriously, the TARP FELL and someone was still listening. To the woman who accepted Jesus, I pray that God brings out growth in you, I pray that He uses your pain to help others grow, I pray that in times of discouragement that you continue to pursue Him and love Him, and I pray that you always remember that you have a father and His name is God.
Overall, we serve a God that has given us all unique stories. Never be afraid to share that God saved you from sin and shame. He has all the power in the world to save and He gives us opportunities to share that power through the freedom that He gives each of us.
“Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, so that they will see my glory, which you have given me because you loved me before the world’s foundation.”
