My impressions of Romania were… WOW!  The scenery just kept getting better and better.  I enjoyed the bright colors of the houses and gorgeous rose gardens as we passed through the villages and towns.  I loved the beautiful fields with red, purple, yellow, pink, and white wildflowers.  It was so nice to see the people outside their houses sitting and talking to their neighbors.  I was amazed at the amount of horse and carriages still being used as transportation.

As the month went on, I met wonderful people through our contacts that greeted us with open arms and wonderful hospitality.  I sadly also met people who treated us in unloving ways.  The oppression and spiritual warfare was heavy.  Luckily, the Lord conquers all and I was able to see past the hate to their need for love.  Also, God’s creation continued to amaze me as I was able to see more of the beautiful countryside.

What satisfied me the most? My time spent in prayer, whether at the church, during a home visit, walking through a village, at kids club, with my team, or on my own.  I was reminded of the power of prayer and the connection to God it brings.

“Be joyful always; pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

What frustrated me the most? One word…FLIES!

I see God at work here… in Hope Church. In our amazing contracts Raul, Tavi, Daniel, and Veronica who poured Christ’s love into us everyday.  The people of Hope Church are working hard to spread the grace and love of God to a very oppressed country.  They are pouring their hearts out daily in prayer and commitment to sharing the gospel. It was exciting to come along side them during morning intercessory pray, home visits, and kids clubs.  Hope Church is truly on fire for God!

If a friend travels here they must… go to the mountains and visit the many castles and then venture to the Black Sea and relax by the water.  Also, Romania has such beautiful scenery, that I would tell people to just hop in a car and drive.
