Last week I had the privilege to hang out with the amazing youth at my church.  We are in Panama City Beach, FL at a camp called Big Stuf.  The theme for the week was “reality.”  What a topic for me right now, because my reality is about to change.   However, right now my reality is filled with excitement, adventure, the un-known, and fear.

On Tuesday night we talked about fear being a reality.  We all live with fear; fear that we are not good enough, fear that we can’t do something, fear that we wont live up to others expectations, and the list goes on and on.  Our speaker talked about the internal voice in your head and how no one has a positive internal voice.  Our internal voice is our fear!  Our voice remembers every bad thing and can make us truly believe that we are not good enough.  Luckily, one of the most told statements in the Bible is “Do not be afraid.”  What an amazing thing to know, that God is there so that we do not have to deal with our fears alone.  So, a question was posed…How do you make sure that in the midst of the love we’ve been given we don’t get crippled by fear? The speaker gave us three steps to help deal with those not so positive voices in our head.

1. Write it down.

2. Refute it with truth.

3. Share it.

So, I have decided to do just that.  I want to write my fears down and share them with all of you.

  • I’m not a good enough Christian to go on the World Race.
  • I can’t raise $15,500 and I really can’t get $3,500 in 2 weeks.
  • I’m not a good enough writer to write a blog where I share my feelings and experiences.
  • I will never fine a husband that will treat and respect me the way I know God intends.
  • That I am not a good teacher.

I pray daily that God helps me to overcome my fears and it is an amazing feeling to share them.  It truly gives me more confidence in knowing that I am not alone in my fears.
