Today I decided to get to know my team a little bit better by going through some recent blogs that have been posted. I am really excited to meet all of them and I find myself praying for them individually more and more as the race comes closer. Reading about them and their stories made me realize that I haven’t actually shared with all of you why I am doing the World Race.
So here it goes…
When I was around 10 years old, my dad started volunteering for our church in the outreach ministry, specifically a program that was geared towards the homeless community called INNS. And when I was around 10, I started going to volunteer with him! I loved it. Every week I couldn’t wait to be able to go sit with people and talk, play basketball or color with kids, it taught me how to love people where they were at. Throughout the years my parents got more and more involved in the outreach team at our church. Our ministry expanded from serving the homeless to serving in inner city schools, it was amazing! It was such a blessing to experience that for years and eventually I decided to seek out some other opportunities and I stumbled upon a work experience at a camp in the middle of Iowa named Village Creek Bible Camp. So I applied and was accepted to this leadership program, I ended up serving staying and serving at this camp for three summers! It totally changed my life!
So as I was growing up I really began to realize that I totally loved serving other people in whatever way I could. From cooking food and watching kids to cleaning bathrooms, I loved being a part of a team of people who loved working to glorify God. All of these experiences taught me a lot about myself, but really it all taught me about God’s heart for people. I learned that we are ALL treasured by the creator of the universe! THAT IS CRAZY!
I always knew my calling was to be in ministry and when I went to college that desire never faded. I honestly was not a fan of UW-Milwaukee at all… it was pretty much torture for me and I started to drown myself in working. I took as many classes as possible and started working two jobs and it killed me. So in February of this year I decided that I had enough of pretending that my heart wasn’t in ministry and I wanted to have purpose again, so I found the World Race and I immediately applied.
I am ready to live out what I have been passionate about for the last 7 years of my life. I am ready to meet the God of the universe all around His planet and experience His power through His people. So here is to a life of adventure! I am ready! So God use me! Send me!
If you feel led to help me get out on the missions field scroll all the way to the top and click on the “support me” tab! Any and everything will help me, even if its $5!
All week I have been thinking about this quote that says… “People keep asking, ‘how much can I spare?’ but what if we asked, ‘what will it take?'” I am willing to give everything I have got!
