What does being a Christian really mean?
I am about to go on a little bit of a rant. I am passionate about the LOVE of God. I am thankful everyday for His unyielding mercy over my life. When Christ died for me, He took away my guilt, shame and condemnation and replaced it with His blood. The day I found Jesus was the day I was made alive.
Yes I BELIEVE IN JESUS. The question is… what am I going to do about it?
As Christians we are called to look like Christ and to carry out His work. We are called to love others extravagantly. Without excuses. Without being asked… we are called to love.
How do we love?
Well, we happen to live in a pretty messed up world. We live next door to people in marriages that are falling apart… children are being molested and abused. Teenagers are filled with self hatred and are lonely and broken. Mothers are having abortions because they don’t know what else to do. Men and women are sleeping on the streets… unsure of where their next meal is going to come from… or when it will come. AND YET our number one priority in society has become making sure no one feels offended by our words or actions.
We have hardened our hearts towards the homeless because lets be honest… If we give them money they’ll probly just go to buy alcohol with it right? WRONG! I’ve heard that excuse time and time again and its just not true. Even if it is… you can’t hand a cripple a pair of running shoes and expect him to be able to run a marathon.
So, where are we church? WHERE ARE WE? Why do we sit in our comfy homes while there are people out there with nothing? Why do we eat our huge meals, indulge in Starbucks and McDonald’s daily while there are people starving down the street? THERE ARE PEOPLE STARVING IN OUR COMMUNITY! There are mothers and children without homes. There are children living in destructive situations. There are young men and women that we stand next to every single day who struggle with their identity, worth and purpose! Why is it that we have everything to give and every reason to keep it for ourselves? Globally there are still millions of unreached people… as in people who have never heard the name of Jesus. There are young christian girls being sold by ISIS and Christians being murdered while we live in security.
Are you on your knees, begging God to show up in this place? Are we asking for God to bring His Kingdom to earth and then asking Him to guide us and use us in His plans?
I cant live like this any more. I cannot stand on the sidelines as a referee in this “game” called life. Coach is calling me in and I’m ready. I am ready to spend the rest of my life in a dead ahead sprint for the purpose and calling that God has placed over my life. I am willing to give my everything… travel to the ends of the earth in order for one to be saved.
Where did the fiery passion that blazed in the Church… the love that changed the world… where did it go?
