I just finished reading Hebrews, and I really do think that it may be my most favorite book in the Bible thus far. It holds so much wisdom and goodness in it. Was feeling like the Lord wanted me to share some of the verses that stood out to me this morning, so here we go:
In Hebrews 11:9, it says, “By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him in the same promise.” For some reason, this particular verse reminded me of the Race, and gave me a bit of affirmation. The verse before it, it talks about Abraham going out, but having no idea where he is going. It’s all about faith. Stepping out in faith, and walking into the unknown. I feel as if that’s exactly what I am doing. The only thing I know is that the Lord’s called me to this, so I know I must do it, and I know it’s good.
Hebrews 12:11 says, “Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.” In other words, no discipline seems pleasant at the time, but actually painful and hard. However, later on, the harvest it produces, is a harvest of peace and righteousness. I think that verse is so beautiful and holds so much truth in it. In society’s words, “You have to get through the rain if you ever want to see the rainbow.”
Hebrews 12: 28-29! A truly beautiful verse. “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire.” A kingdom that cannot be shaken! Our God is a consuming fire! So cool. What an amazing reminder those verses are.
Hebrews 13:2-3 says “Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels. Remember the prisoners as if chained with them–those who are mistreated–since you yourselves are in the body also.” Again, in other words, show hospitality and love to strangers! By doing this, you are also showing hospitality to angels without even knowing it! And remember those in prison, as if you were in there with them. And as if you, yourself are alongside suffering. Both verses to live by. Let’s love all people, doesn’t matter who they are! Pray for the ones suffering, the ones in prison, refugees, victims, and more! We are all the Lord’s children. Practice grace and mercy more.
Hebrews 13:21 says, “Equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom glory forever and ever. Amen” This particular verse was such a good reminder to me, as I have been struggling for some time now feeling worthy and equipped enough to do the World Race! But, the God of peace, WILL equip me! With everything I need to follow out His will! Is that not the coolest?
There’s a few reminders and verses of encouragement for your day! May you live by these! And may you follow the passions and desires of your heart and bring glory to His name!
Training camp is 7 days away! 7 days until I meet my squad, find out who my team will be, and have to endure a lot of hard things. But, boy I am excited. I just ask that you be praying for me! For good health- both mentally and physically. That the Lord will energize me. For patience, confidence, and boldness. And lastly, that the Lord will completely set me free from all things social anxiety!
