Friends and family—-
What is up from Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa! We arrived here September 12th after 73 or so hours of travel. We are staying at a GLA campus, also known as Global Leadership Academy. This organization is awesome, and their hearts and their intentions are beautiful. We are staying at what is called the Mission House. The Mission House’s purpose is where missionaries come to stay. The story behind the house is pure and wholesome. It’s built on the Lord’s love and faithfulness for a couple named Austin and Rebecca, who passed away in 2017. Austin is Wendy, our house mama’s son. She looks after us so intentionally, AND she makes the best food. 😉 Wendy is a light that beams the Lord’s joy, and uses Austin’s testimony as a way to further His kingdom. She’s finding beauty in what is so difficult and heart breaking. Rebecca went on the World Race, and met Austin here at GLA when she came to JBay! They’ve made a trying time into an opportunity of unification! We will be staying there until the end of the month, and then we could potentially be moving but also potentially staying, we just don’t know yet! I will keep you guys updated though.
This week has looked a variety of ways. When we first got here, we got a couple days off, to rest and to enjoy our new home. We got to experience the farmers market here, explored downtown, went and walked along the beach, and rested up! On Monday, we started ministry. Ministry for my team, along with the guy’s team looked like digging and more digging. Ha! The boys pic-axed while the girls did the digging of the excess dirt. The digging is for a beautiful purpose, and that purpose is a classroom! And that’s what made the challenging ministry so rewarding. We are getting the opportunity to help in building a room for children here at GLA to learn and grow. It also gave us the opportunity to bond as a team and even get in a little exercise!
It’s now Thursday, and we changed it up a bit, and now are at a camp. It’s only temporary, now until Tuesday. We will be helping in leading groups that come to the camp. We start tomorrow, and today just consisted of a tad bit of training. A few of us are each getting to room with a few of the campers. I have no idea and have no expectations of what camp will look like, and it’s felt a little weird, especially because we just got settled into GLA, then we’re moved to this camp for 5 days, BUT I am positive and hopeful that it’ll be wonderful and also rewarding.
That’s kind of it, for now guys! I’ll be sure to update you on what life is looking like as we are here longer and getting to witness and experience more!
Peace and blessings and love to all!
