I am currently in Granada, Nicaragua. My squad and I arrived on the 8th. There isn’t wifi available at my ministry location this month, so I’ll try to post a blog as much as I can. God has been teaching me so much since I’ve been in Nicaragua. My squad and I have been incredibly blessed this month with our living situations. We thought we were going to be living kind of rough this month, but the Lord was looking out for us and always provides. We have beds to sleep on, fed 3 times a day, and live within a gated property that gives a sense of protection. But beyond our perfect little home past the gates that keep us safe at night, is awakening.

There are people here who have so little and are grateful for so much. When I step back and look at my own life, it looks like I have so much and am grateful for so little. These people hardly have anything at all, but yet they display so much joy and happiness. During this time to reflect on how I live my life that God has given me, I’ve realized that I don’t thank Him enough. He has given me so much without a thank you in return. When we are given things in life, we start to expect them and become less grateful.

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for today, for everyday is a blessing.

Thank you for my past, present, and future.

Thank you for my family, friends, and loved ones.

Thank you for always forgiving me.

Thank you for loving me.

Thank you for choosing to love me.

Thank you for the five senses you have given me to experience the life you have blessed me with.

Thank you for allowing me to learn from my mistakes.

Thank you for your mercy.

Thank you for the meals that I receive every day.

Thank you for every breath I take.

Thank you for the conversations that bring joy to my heart.

Thank you for your grace.

Thank you for all that you’ve created for me to enjoy here on Earth.

Thank you for giving me hopes and dreams.

Thank you for the sun, moon, and stars.

Thank you for music, movies, and books to get lost in

Thank you for the beds that you’ve provided the last 3 months.

Thank you for the people that you’ve put in my life.

Thank you for the difficult times that I went through in my past.

Thank you for your love.

Thank you for everything that I am and am not grateful for.

I don’t deserve the wonderful life that you have given me.

I challenge you to do the same. I ask that you step back and look at your life. Think about all that you haven’t thanked God for. Have you thanked God for the sweater you never wear except for family photos that you got for Christmas two years ago from your grandma? Someone in this world would love to have a sweater to keep them warm at night. Have you thanked God for your car that you think is a piece of junk? Some people have to walk miles and miles to work every day. Have you thanked God for the bed that you get to come home to every day? Some people don’t even have a bed, they sleep on the ground with nothing but cardboard.

I’m not trying to make you feel guilty. I’m not trying to make you feel like a bad person. I just want to make you think. Think about all the things that God has given you that He didn’t have to. Because He is such a generous Father.

Thank you so much and until next time(:

Yours in Christ,

Karrie
