I was struggling a little bit when I first arrived in Panama. Away from my family, friends, and loved ones. I don’t deal with change very well and being gone from my normal life for 11 months is definitely a huge change. I still felt like fish outta water. I’m an introvert and the majority of people that I’m with are extroverts. Just made me feel like I don’t belong. I felt alone, invisible. When we got to the host family that we’d be staying with for the month, they treated us so well. Knowing that we’re welcomed in their home helped. But they aren’t the blessing in disguise that I’m talking about in this blog. It was their pets. They have four dogs who I absolutely adore. God knows that I have a very huge special place in my heart for animals. And He knew I was struggling. The dogs help me so much. And the thing is, no one really knows how much. They know that I love the dogs, but they don’t know how much they’ve helped me. There’s just something about animals that others don’t see, especially dogs. They will love you no matter what. They’re loyal, sweet, and will be there for you. You don’t even have to say anything to them. They’ll just sit alongside you and allow you to not say a word or make it awkward. You can’t do that with most people. With dogs, you don’t need to say anything for them to enjoy your company.

This is Mamoo. She’s my favorite out of the four. I slowly became fond of her once I realized how sweet she is. She likes to sit between my legs and lay her head in my lap while I pet her. My favorite thing is when I pet her to sleep. It’s funny, Mamoo and I are kinda alike. We’re both quiet and sweet. Good listener, reliable, and loyal. Which is probably why I like her so much. I think she realizes how much I need her.

This is Linda. I really like Linda too. She’s pretty sweet as well. She’s a good girl and she’s there when I need her. She is an attention hog though. She’s very caring of her son, Macchiato (the next dog mentioned). She’s a good mother.

This is Macchiato. He is the child of the bunch. He is always play-fighting. If some of the dogs are play-fighting, you know he started it. He brings joy within the bunch though, always wants to play.

And this is Cappuccino. He is the most chill dog out of the bunch. He’s a little slower and minds his own business most of the time. He is a gentleman though. The two girls and I on my team live in a separate house from the host family and the guys on our team. We have about a 2 minute walk every morning and every night when we walk to and from the houses. At night, he always accompanies us in the dark back to our house that we stay in. Also, side note, Cappuccino is the father of Macchiato.

Okay now, this may sound weird that this blog is about dogs, but I realize even the smallest things that God gives me that are blessings. The dogs are there when I need them, and I like the language that the dogs and I share. Enjoying each other’s company in silence.

That’s all for now. Until next time(:

Yours in Christ,

Karrie
