I didn’t know I was going to fall in love. I didn’t plan on falling in love. It’s something that didn’t even occur to me would happen when I was on the field. But it did, and I had no control over it. So I want to write a letter to you, the one who stole my heart. The one that I’ll always come back running to. In this letter, I’m going to try to explain why I fell in love with you, how I fell in love with you, and our times that I’ll never forget.
Dear Cambodia,
The very first moment we met, I knew I was falling for you. I didn’t know that it was quite possible for me to feel these feelings I had for you. For a person, maybe even an object, but a place? I’ve never really truly loved like that, until you. You weren’t trying to sweep me off my feet, you were just being yourself. And that’s one of the reasons why I fell for you. You’ve taught me so much and I’ll be forever grateful. I had an opportunity to teach and be taught. To serve and be served. To love and be loved. To learn and to grow. You taught me about joy. You taught me about giving. And you taught me about life. I’ve shed tears of happiness and sadness with/for you. You have brought so much joy in my life. I’ve also cried after learning what you’ve gone through. I am proud of how much you’ve grown and how far you’ve come. The way you love others is a love that I’ve never experienced before. It is quite beautiful. You weren’t what I wanted, you were what I needed.
After 2 days, I knew you were the one for me. The one that will always be my forever and I never want it to end. The time that we’ve had together has been some of the best days of my life. I’m going to truly miss you when I have to leave. But know that you’ll always have my heart. Continue doing what you do best.
Some of my favorite things I’m going to miss about you:
- I’m going to miss watching the red sun go down every sunset
- I’m going to miss watching the sun turn from a red to a golden yellow every morning
- I’m going to miss hearing your beautiful music every morning
- I’m going to miss our tuk tuk rides down a bumpy dirt road
- I’m going to miss our dance parties at church after service every Sunday night
- I’m going to miss the lights you display every night
- I’m going to miss the people that I met because of you
- I’m going to miss all the crazy adventures we had
- I’m going to miss feeling so alive and on fire
- I’m going to miss living a simple life with you
- I’m going to miss your people
- I’m going to miss your culture
- I’m going to miss your beauty
- I’m going to miss your atmosphere
- I’m going to miss learning from you, you taught me something every day
- I’m going to miss greeting people the way you do
- I’m going to miss laughing so hard until I cried
- I’m going to miss worshipping with you
The list could go on. I’m going to miss everything about you. Don’t forget about me and the time we’ve had together. We still have about 2 weeks together. Let’s cherish the time we still have with each other. Let’s soak up every moment and not let time slip through our fingers. Let’s fall more in love.
You taught me. You challenged me. You surprised me.
You loved me well.
Your World Racer,
Karrie Noack
P.s. If this blog confused you, it was a letter to Cambodia (the country).
That’s all for now. Until next time(:
Yours in Christ,
Karrie
