A three-word testimony is something that I was introduced to in Panama by Tony Hargrove. Tony was our translator, guide, and family friend. But he was much more than that, he was with us the entire time of our journey in Panama. He taught us many things and had so much wisdom to share. One thing that I took away from my time in Panama was the three-word testimony.
A testimony includes how Christ changed our life by sharing the gospel with others and explaining our personal salvation experience, which can turn into a lengthy story. Tony came up with a creative way to shorten it without taking away the powerful components of the testimony.
The three-word testimony highlights on three words and then goes deeper into the meaning of the three words. The first word summarizes what your life looked like before Christ. The second word summarizes how you came to Christ. And the third word summarizes what your life looks like after Christ.
During our stay in Panama, Tony shared his three-word testimony and encouraged us to come up with our own. I started to brainstorm my three-words. I’m a very hands-on and visual learner. We were working on the farm one day during work, and God gave me an inspiration. Here’s a video to help you visualize my three-word testimony a little bit better.
My three words are Cut, Covered, Planted
I grew up in a Christian home and went to church every Sunday. I was baptized at a young age, but the older I got, the more I lost my way and started straying away from God. I was lost. Miserable. Numb to everything. Ashamed. Drowning. Suffocating. I was done. I didn’t want to feel like this anymore. I was like the little coffee bean plant in the video. I am weak without water. I was cut and crying out for help. I just didn’t know it at the time. I pretended life was okay and hid what was really going on from others. That’s no way to live.
My life has been an up and down rollercoaster. God got ahold of me in my college years when I realized I wasn’t really living my life seriously for Him. At one point, I was at my lowest. And that’s when I turned to Him. I surrendered and gave it all to Him. He didn’t care that I knowingly turned my back on Him and walked away. He loved me anyway. He told me to stop fighting and let Him fight for me instead. I was covered by the Lord’s unconditional love. Just like the little coffee bean plant in the video was covered by the dirt.
I am planted by my roots and continue to grow to become more like Christ. I am a beautiful coffee bean plant who wants to grow and soak in the sunlight. And my next step to doing that is the World Race. I have learned so much since being on the field. Sharing the Gospel and leading others to Christ, becoming who God wants me to be, and expanding His Kingdom. God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good. God loves you more in a moment than anyone could in a lifetime. You don’t need to be perfect to be loved by a perfect God.
And now, I encourage you to find your 3 word testimony. I’d love to hear it. And I hope to inspire you to share with others. You have no idea how powerful it is and how incredible God works in ways when we share what God has and is doing in our lives.
Thank you so much and until next time(:
Yours in Christ,
Karrie
