I am an enneagram type 7, otherwise known as the enthusiast, but one key character trait is that I am an optimistic dreamer (I just like dreaming, dreaming is my favorite *Elf quote*). I think I love dreaming so much because it’s a world I get to escape to where anything can be my reality. Whether I am flying high above the clouds or I have just become a photographer, hairstylist, author, missionary, mom traveling the world.

The other day we were all sitting down in a circle and talking about our kingdom dreams. So, being the dreamer that I am, I was so excited to share mine. I want to go into remote villages and give women haircuts, take their picture and then print it out for them. My hope in doing this would be to show them how highly desired and radically loved they are from their Father in heaven (and since I’m just dreaming here, start a revival while I’m at it). Our pastor’s wife loved the idea and all of a sudden, what had always just been a dream in the back of mind was becoming my reality! In a couple days we would be going into a village and washing women’s hair, cutting it and spending time just loving on the women!

The night before going into the village I could hardly sleep! What do you wear on the day your dreams are about to come true? How should I wear my hair? How am I going to feel? All of a sudden it hit me… I need a bigger dream! If my lifelong dream is about to come true tomorrow then I need to think even BIGGER for my next dream!

So, we wake up and head out to the village and man oh man was I thriving! The women started coming one by one and then out of nowhere we had a large crowd. We washed their hair, cut it and painted their nails in a small little hut-styled structure. It was such a fun time of laughter, empowerment, dancing, and just loving like Jesus would. I was actually able to cut hair too because my team mate had showed me how a couple days before!

So, I titled this blog “Dreaming with my Eyes Wide Open” and that’s truly what it was! Usually when I dream it ends when I open my eyes, but this time I blinked and everything stayed the same. I always imagined what this day would be like and I am still in awe that it actually came to pass, sooner than I expected too! For a moment I just stood there taking it all in. This has to be what Jesus talks about when He mentions bringing kingdom here on earth. Women empowering other women, not comparing or gossiping about them, but rather women serving one another, laughing with one another and pointing each other back to Christ.

So, to all my dreamers out there… I encourage you to create a dream so big its destined to fail without God intervening and watch how He shows up!
