This month my team is doing a little thing called Unsung Heroes. Our goal this month is to find individuals and ministries that are movers and shakers in God’s Kingdom that Adventures in Missions doesn’t know about. We do this search so we can send future world race teams to help these ministries with their projects.

One of these Unsung Heroes we found this month is Mark and Miriam Upton. They live in the small fishing village of Farallon, Cocle, Panama. They moved to that village from Panama City four years ago with one purpose. To live like Jesus along side the people of Farallon.

Farallon is an interesting village. Along the beach there are a couple resorts and a few million dollar beach homes, and on the other side of the street are houses with no electricity or plumbing. The Uptons are the first missionaries to visit this community and, over the past few years, have built great relationships with the people in Farallon.

The people in this community have nicknamed Mark “poco a poco” (meaning little by little) because as the Uptons bring mission teams to work on projects to the area, he tells the people they are building up the community little by little.

In the last few years the Uptons have been installing septic tanks to help with community sanitation and built a pavilion for Children’a bible lessons.

The Uptons are Unsung Heroes of Panama Missions. Check out the interview with Mark Upton below to get to know them better.
