Honduras was a very exciting month for me. Our ministry for the month was Unsung Hero a program designed specifically to find Ministries who are making an impact in the community and expanding the Kingdom of God. Generally these people are Unsung Heroes who are doing work that is often unseen and underappreciated. We were traveling all over the country looking for these contacts who could one day also Partner with Adventures in Missions as ministry contacts for future World Race teams or Adventures program.

We met several different kinds of ministries but the one that impacted me the most was Proyecto Manuelito. This is a ministry that takes kids off the street and gives them a place to live and go to school. Essentially it’s a school with dorms for the kids, they all become family and have dorm parents. The man who founded the organization was an orphan. He overcame and vowed to provide a safe place for kids like him to get an education and learn the real meaning of family.

It was also an exciting experience because I was able to see family that I haven’t seen in over 20 years.

Exploring the country my family speaks so fondly of was an experience I am so grateful God gave to me. This is where my roots are and the ability to see its wonders face to face was incredible.

One of the other ministries we worked with was Escuelas de Esperanza. This ministry focuses on giving bible studies at schools in poor areas of Honduras. They also do feeding programs and child sponsorships.

Another Ministry we worked with was Casa de Luz. This is a program which offers day care programs to single mothers. They focus on providing a safe place where children can learn about the bible and receive a free meal.

When we served with this ministry we were able to teach the kids about the crucifixion. I was awesome to teach this little ones about the love that Christ has for them.

There is so much love in this organization. They care for each child with such passion. God is truly at the center of all that they do and their fierce devotion to their children is unbelievable.

It was an amazing month. It was different because we moved around from ministry to ministry instead of staying with one ministry all month and I absolutely loved it. We were able to see all of the amazing things God is doing in Honduras.
