Last night I watched a MSNBC documentary about Sex Slaves in Texas. It was about how innocent girls from Central America are promised jobs in the US but end up working in Houston’s cantinas. It was so hard watching this documentary, especially after worship and learning about God’s sovereignty. How in God’s sovereignty could He allow this to happen? Couldn’t He just say “enough” and human trafficking would cease to exist? Yes, God is sovereign, He will eliminate human trafficking, but in a way that will bring the most glory to Him-and that is through His church.

If all the players in the industry knew Christ as their Savior, as Lord of their life; slavery would be extinct.
  • The johns- if they had Holy Spirit dwelling inside of them, they would listen to His voice and ignore the temptation.
  • The traffickers-instead of preying on the weak and victimizing them, they would encourage and build up fearless women for the Lord.
  • The pimps-would not be greedy, but selfless and giving.
  • The corrupt law officials- they would not take bribes and look the other way, but would bring justice.
It’s so easy for us to have compassion for the victims of human trafficking; and to have nothing but hatred and anger for the ones who use and abuse them. As Gary Haugen says, ‘the good news about injustice is that their is a God who is against it” and because God is sovereign and can not tolerate sin, they will pay the price for their sin, in an eternal fire. But I am reminded of the lyric, ” The blood of Christ alone can save our souls. We can not gain atonement on our own. By His grace He has changed our hearts and made us new,”   what if God changed the hearts and made them new? That’s not fair, I wanna say, “They deserve Hell, they have destroyed countless lives” but the reality is that before Christ, or if I didn’t know Christ, I WOULD BE JUST LIKE THEM! Isn’t God good?! And I find peace in His sovereignty. These players will either get the punishment they deserve, or God will choose to redeem them and then they will turn from their sin and become agents of change. See, God is in the business of taking our sin, Satan’s hold on us, and turning it around on it’s ugly head. What Satan uses to destroy us, God uses to bring restoration.
