So a lot of people have been asking about our daily routines here in Cambodia. So instead of replying to each email seperately I’ve decided to write a blog. π
We wake up in the morning around 7ish and eat breakfast (bread, peanut butter, fruit). Sometimes it’s bread that we’ve gotten at the grocery store (one loaf, 20 slices= $1) Most of the prices are in USD which is nice. Sometimes we go to the market and get fresh bread and pineapple. The fresh bread is s delicious! It’s a mix of angel food cake and pound cake. Yummy! We eat and pray for our day.

Around 8 am we then head out to ministry and just help out with whatever they need for the day. Sometimes it’s being guinea pigs for their spa ministry, and getting massage and petticures and then giving feedback. (yeah, we’re really suffering for Jesus). Sometimes we go to the office and help with administrative things. One of my major projects is coming up with a system in excel for the ministry to keep up with their inventory that they have the girls make in their income generating projects. They make cards, jewelry, bookmarks, aprons, lots of really neat stuff. It sounded a lot easier than it was. A lot of inventoy and subcatergories later, I think we almost have a good system of keeping track of the inventory (ptl).
Some of the girls on my team are actually helping in designing new cards and jewelry and are teaching the girls how to make them. Another one of our projects is getting things ready for next year’s Christmas Craft Celebration. So we’ve revamped the registration form a little bit and are working on a seating arrangement chart. (Thank you Bristow wedding for giving me an idea on how to do that) π
Around noon we leave the office. Cambodia is a little like Spain in the sense that from 12-2 business shut down and people take naps. Restaurants and markets are open, so we have lunch and sometimes we go shopping, sometimes we go to a coffee shop and enjoy the AC and wifi and journal.
Around two we go back to the office to work on our projects or to the spa and work with the girls on their English. We head back to the hostel around 5 and rest/get ready for dinner. Usually we go to the mall, or to the night market.
After dinner we come back to the hostel and hang out with our team and if their lucky some of the squad members. π juuust kidding, we’re the lucky ones to hang out with them!
We usually end our nights with team time and feedback starting around 9pm.
On the weekends we are free to see Cambodia which is really nice and do all the touristy things.
I noticed a lot of my pictures are of food, but we can’t take pictures of our ministry for security reasons…
So that’s just a really quick run down of our day to day life in Cambodia. We do a lot more than that, and things different from day to day, like sometimes we clean the church instead of going to the office. But now you have a jest of what’s going on. π But if you have any questions feel free to shoot me an email or facebook me or reply to this blog and I’ll try really hard to respond!
