This month we are starting every day with prayer, and we have specific requests from our contacts. I would love to share these requests with you so you can be praying alongside us this month! I will try to collect them and post once a week so you can stay in the loop and help us this month! Here are a few from this morning:
-In 1991 this area received vaccines for children that unbeknownst to them were infected with HIV. All of the children that received these vaccines were subsequently infected and are now our age living as outcasts in the village. Pray for someone to specifically be called to this area to minister to the community with aids. Pray for them to have a desire to know God and a feeling of worth when their community treats them as outcasts. Pray for us to be able to love them unconditionally if we work with them this month and to show them the love of Jesus.
-Pray for motivation for the youth to finish school, especially for the girls. If the girls here don’t finish school, the common second choice is prostitution. We will be working in after school programs this month to try to get kids interested in furthering their educations and finish school. Pray that we have a divine connection with these kids and that we can inspire them. Pray that they have a desire to hear about what we are doing and tons of opportunities for us to share Jesus with them. Also pray for the girls that are currently trapped in prostitution that they would want to hear the gospel and for them to have other means to provide for themselves and their families.
-Regionally, the missionaries here have 60 villages and about 350,000 people to reach. Mathematically, they need about 59,500 people to even put a dent in this number. They currently have 10 missionary families and a few individuals reaching this vast group. But… My God is bigger than statistics. Pray for a divine multiplication of believers like the New Testament stories of the first church. Pray for energy and passion for the workers here as they work in a land known as a missionary graveyard. And pray for open hearts and receptivity to the gospel as they reach this daunting number.
-In a town about an hour away, there is a school where Muslim students come to earn medical degrees. They then leave and go back to Muslim countries. One man is working in this area to reach these students (around 200) so that they can return home and spread the gospel in their home towns. Pray specifically for provisions for a multipurpose building in the area where they could have the students over, do bible studies, or accommodate teams in the future. Pray for the Christian worker there to make divine connections and disciple the students there. And pray for receptivity to the gospel for the students.
