We were blessed to be able to work with a ton of awesome kids this month, but one in particular stole our hearts. His personality was so spunky and his smile brightened every day… Because yes, he visited us every day. Literally! Rain didn’t stop him, lack of sleep obviously didn’t stop him because he was at our home by at least 6, usually 5ish every morning. And he soaked up our love this month.

He’s 11. He likes to play a lot more than he likes to go to school which gets him in trouble a lot. He calls pb&j sandwiches “hamburgers”. And he loves kites. And our iPhones.
But his circumstances don’t necessarily match his beautiful smile. We were really curious about him, so we were asking our host family about his mom and dad. “He has no father,” she said, “Someone did something very bad to his mom, so he was born.” …
Through something so terrible, something so beautiful was created…
Our God brings beauty out of the most desolate places. He’s a God of redemption. He’s a God of hope. He foils the enemy’s schemes by bringing forth good in every situation.
This little boy is such an awesome child of God and he honestly changed our whole month. Every time we were around him we wanted to pour into him that he was a loved child of God. That his Father in heaven loves him so much. That we love him.
Help us cover him and his family in prayer.
Kara asked him if Jesus loved him, and he said, “Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.” Everything we say and do with these kids, they remember. And I believe later in their lives, those seeds will take root in their hearts. God is going to use him in such an awesome way that it will make the enemy’s plan of destruction look silly. Even in the most desperate situations and terrible circumstances, there is grace. And there is beauty.
