Hi!
My name is Kari and I am a participant for the June 2010 World Race.
in Scottsdale, AZ with the world’s two best parents. I have an amazing
younger sister, who happens to be a lot taller than me and infinitely more
talented then I am : ) I have an American Eskimo dog named Maximus and a cat
named Lana, plus two amazing dogs that live with my parents Lady and Lexi.
I became a
Christian at a young age, but it was never really real for me until I got into
high school and the early years of college.
I loved
Arizona, but was ready for a change so I moved to So-Cal and went to Azusa
Pacific University for college. I
loved southern CA and could not have picked a better place to go to college.
always loved to travel. My family
has been really blessed, and whenever my Dad would get to go somewhere fun for
work, we would get to go with him.
With my family I’ve been all over the world doing both missions and vacations. My two favorite places we have gone are Greece and Brazil.
However, my
travel bug really grew during my study abroad experiences in college. I studied abroad for a summer in Europe
traveling to over 8 different countries.
Then again in graduate school I studied abroad in Asia getting to travel
to amazing places in China, Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
these experiences I really developed a love for other countries and cultures,
and was truly moved by the people that I met during these experiences. I came home from these trips energized
and ready to plan my next adventure to another part of the world.
has been one of extreme changes for me personally. As I was analyzing what I’d been thru, I began looking into
options to serve and really put everything I have into God’s hands and see
where He leads me.
friend, Brynne, told me about the World Race, and as soon as I looked at the
website I felt God tugging on my heart.
From the countries listed for the June Race, to the blogs of other
participants, everything in me just felt like this was something God was
calling me to be apart of.
Someone
once told me that the best way to take your mind off of your own problems, and
improve thru them is to take your focus off of yourself and put it on serving
others. I really feel like the
World Race is my opportunity to put that into action.
I cannot
wait to travel the world, connect with others, and serve God to the best of my
ability through this process.
