Just a little of what we did today…

Today Pam, Haley, Molly, and
I anxiously awaited our ride to head out for evangelism today and they showed
up at 1:45pm which was too late for us to have any time since it was an hour
away. At the same time, the couple hosting our stay for the month came in the
house and told us that there was a medical outreach right in town that invited
us to come if our plans had changed which worked out perfect because it started
at 2pm. Our ICM ride took us to the outreach instead of evangelism where Pam
was able to do more medical work with some patients as a certified nurse, and
Molly, Haley, and I talked and prayed with people.

It was a wonderful opportunity to just build relationships with the people
while they waited for several hours to be seen and receive treatment and
medication. Some come from miles just to receive treatment for an illness.  I had fun playing with the kids and keeping them entertained for a
bit. One girl in particular became my friend right from the beginning and
captured my heart. I found out near the end, that her name is Christine, which
surprised me because I haven’t heard that name yet in any Asian country. Since that is my mom’s name, it brought this
little girl just a little closer to my heart.

I was able to talk to people
about a relationship with Christ. Since
the predominant religion of the Philippines
is Roman Catholicism (a little different than Catholicism in the US), most of
them did not know about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and assurance
that they were going to heaven. The Philippines is
a religious country with crosses, church, and God everywhere, but full of empty
words or prayers just said out of tradition instead of from the heart to a
personal God. I was able to share that
with some and pray with them.

God is always up to
something and it’s always good!
🙂 God knew we needed
be here today instead of any hour away.
